One of my Christmas presents was Patriotic Country 2. It's a great album, (even if you're not a country fan, you should really consider getting it.) and since I really don't feel like blogging, I'll just randomly post the words to a few of my favorite songs on it.
So here it is, by memory(I think I got all the words right!)

Does she think she knows what I stand for or the things that I believe?

See my brother Chris, he's been in for more than fourteen years now.

Our Dad was in the Navy during Vietnam, did his duty then he got out.

And my Grandpa earned his purple heart on the beach of Normandy....

That doesn't mean that I want war, I'm not Republican or Democrat,

but I've gone all around this crazy world, just to try to better understand.

And yes, I do have questions. I get to ask them because I'm free.

'Cause I've been to Hiroshima, and I've been to the DMZ,

I've walked on the sand in Baghdad, still don't have all of the answers I need.

But I guess I wanna know where she's been, before she judges and gestures to me,

So I hope that lady in the minivan, turns on her radio and hears this from me

as she picks up her kids, from their private schools and drives home safely on our city streets

or to the building where her church group meets.... yeah,

that's why I've got a sticker, for the US Marines, on the bumper of my SUV.

You know, the best thing about this song is it's all true. It really happened - Chely Wright was driving down the streets in Nashville one day, when some nut started cussing her out over the "illegal war" because of the USMC bumper sticker that she really did get in honor of her brother Chris. It's all true - down to the "private schools" and "church group", which were on the stranger's bumper stickers. It's a really great song!

To all the people who say 9-11 was a freak event, that we really never were at war, that we don't need to worry about the terrorists anymore, that Bush is just fear mongering, that Bush bred the terror problem....

No matter what liberals may say, WE ARE AT WAR. This didn't start with Bush, it didn't start with Clinton. It's not because of economic policies, or because we dared give too much foriegn aid. These people hate us and WILL kill us if given the chance. The choice is whether we let them or not.

Hey - wait a minute!!! The NY Times violated Sex Offenders' Civil Liberties!!! How dare they do this!! How dare they profile against sex offenders this way!! Haven't they heard of the "right to privacy"?!? They think all sex offenders are bad!! HOW DARE THEY!!!!
Call the ACLU, call Ted Kennedy, call CNN - this is really unbelievable!

Just A Random Post...

Well, I guess y'all can see I'm not really in the mood for political blogging lately. Hey, it's Christmas after all!
I'll try to be back to blogging regularly by Jan. 1.

I hope you guys had a great Christmas....
I got my first "gun" this year from my Aunt(she knows me pretty well :) To tell the truth, It's not much of a serious gun - just an Air-Soft. It's fun to fight with, though, which is what I'm about to do!...

Just for fun, I'll do something I saw Gayle do....

Debate of the week: Patriot Act

I really don't expect many people to want to debate, what, 3 days from Christmas, but I really don't have anything to post, so here it is.

In case you missed it, the Senate renewed the Patriot Act and I want your opinions on it.
Do you think it's right or wrong? Protecting Americans or putting them in danger?
Is it legal? Is it illegal?
(If you're against it) Is there any situation or variation where you would support it?
(If you're for it) do you think it should be changed in any way?

I'm not sure about this(can you believe it?)
I think what it comes down to is whether or not you trust your leaders.
It's not a surprise that Liberals, who are more normally inclined to distrust government agencies like the FBI, CIA etc. and of course, President Bush, are the main opposition,
and that Conservatives, who have faith to let our government do their job, and trust the President and others to use methods that (did you know?) have never been misused yet,
are backing it.

My main support really comes out when I hear Liberals using great hyperboles to paint our government as tantamount to the Soviet Union, Naziism and Communist China all in one for using the Patriot Act's methods.
I do believe these methods have kept us safe, and when I hear people whine about how "our founding fathers would have never been for this", I can't help but think that
Yes... but our founding father's battles consisted of lining up in fields and shooting at each other, and infiltrators were usually hanged.

But... then again, I'm not so sure I'd support this if say, Clinton were in power. Some of these methods do seem rather extreme. And just because they haven't been misused yet doesn't mean they won't ever be.

But, I must say, with our lovely media and politicians, the slightest indiscretion would most likely be picked up instantly and talked about constantly for months, leading to several indictments and a huge scandal. So as long as we have free press, I really don't fear FBI agents in the middle of the night.

Now that I'm done bloviating... what do you think? Any debate comments will be welcomed, though you're expected to abide by the rules at all times.

This is torture.

Witness: Saddam Officials Ripped Off Prisoners' Skin

BAGHDAD, Iraq —
...The prosecution's first witness Wednesday was a man who testified about
killings and torture in Dujail after the attempt to assassinate Saddam. Ali
Hassan Mohammed al-Haidari, who was 14 in 1982...
Al-Haidari... testified that seven of his brothers
were executed by Saddam's regime and their bodies have not been
found.
Al-Haidari said that he and other residents from Dujail — including
family members — were taken to Baghdad and thrown into a security services
prison, where people from "9 to 90" were held.
Blood poured from head wounds
and skin was pale from electric shocks, he testified. Security officials would
drip melted plastic hoses on detainees, only to pull it off after it cooled,
tearing skin off with it, he said.
"I cannot express all that suffering and
pain we faced in the 70 days inside," he said.

This is torture.

Not extreme temperatures. Not humiliation. Not loud music. Not hoods over the head or empty threats. Not cold food. Not "water-boarding". Not insults. Not yelling at the prisoners. Not disrespecting their crutch of a religion.
Even if none of that ever happened - do we care? Should we care?

Is anyone paying attention?

He said Israel should be "wiped off the map", he said the Holocaust was a "myth". Now he's banned Western music.

Is anyone hearing this? Is anyone listening? Do people even care?
It's about time the world realizes - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is dangerous and needs to be dealt with, one way or another.

Did we really need this?

Crazy Politico has a post about this... A new study by UCLA proves Ann Coulter right, after all.

The Canadian blog revolution

I'm sure my fellow bloggers have already noticed: there are some really great Canadian blogs out there.(Some that I visit & link: HellBent, ABFreedom, Crittermusings and Young Conservative) When I first came upon some, I wondered, "did I really miss something?" I must admit, I'm not very knowledgable about Canadian politics!
Now I know of nearly as many Canadian blogs as American ones. Obviously, the blog revolution is spreading internationally! Keep it up - Americans and Canadians!

He has the same thought I've had for a long time. How is racism going to go away if people are so hyper-sensitive to the race of other people? How is it going to go away when people are willing to play it for politics and legislate mindsets?

Why I like Ann Coulter

Robosquirrel has Ann Coulter's latest column linked, so I read it...

I'm getting a little insulted that no Democratic prosecutor has indicted me.
Liberals bring trumped-up criminal charges against all the most dangerous
conservatives. Why not me?... I note that nobody ever wanted to indict Bob Dole or Gerald Ford (except, of course, other Republicans)... Charges like these are not brought at random. They are brought against people who pose the greatest threat to liberals. (What am I? Miss Congeniality?)

And that's why Ann Coulter is my favorite political writer!

Another victory in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Up to 15 million Iraqis — including large numbers
of Sunnis, who boycotted the January elections — voted in historic
parliamentary
elections Thursday amid only scattered violence.
The
polls
stayed open one
hour later, until 6 p.m. local time (10 a.m. EST),
because
of such high turnout.
Long lines were reported in some
precincts, said
commission official Munthur
Abdelamir, some of which
wrapped around
neighborhood blocks. The commission said
results will be
announced within
two weeks.

Well, this is yet another underdog victory for Iraqis, the third successful election - in one year -
in a country that never had Democracy. The voter turnout has been, for the most part, higher than turnout was here for the '04 elections. And we don't have to worry about terrorists blowing us away at the polls!

are nearing. Tomorrow Iraqis will have a chance at freedom and, if things go according to pattern, it will be yet another phenominal successful election, another Democratic step, another "ain't gonna happen", happening, and another thing to all but ignore or make negative in the MSM. Don't let it fool you. We're winning, the Iraqi people are winning, and nothing can change that!

Consequenses and pity

I have a question. Who besides me felt a little queasy seeing the deathwatch on TV for "Tookie" Williams? Who besides me felt even more queasy and even sorry for him when reading this? It was like watching the prison tape that came out soon after Saddam Hussein's capture. Watching a vicious, cruel, evil, maniacal tyrant - you couldn't help it. A twinge of pity hit.

Of course, the reasonable side of me remembered: it's too bad Williams obviously didn't have those feelings, or none of this would have even happened. It's a good thing people - his jury, the Supreme Court, Schwarzenegger - chose to remember the cruel way in which his victims died - instead of thinking about the painless, sterile, just way he would. I think that's the difference. One side thinks only of the consequences. The other side chooses to remember what brought about those consequences.

Williams denied Clemency

SAN FRANCISCO Dec 12, 2005 — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger denied clemency to Stanley Tookie Williams, the former gang leader whose case stirred debate over capital punishment and the possibility of redemption on death row.
Williams, 51, is set to die by injection at San Quentin State Prison after midnight for murdering four people in two 1979 holdups.

I'm very glad that reasonable heads prevailed over the movement to save a brutal convicted killer.

But watch out for Williams' "peacful" supporters.

This is why I support the war in Iraq.

Yes, to remove the threat of WMD's - which in my mind, there is no doubt that he had - is good enough for me. But I also am for it because now this nut is no longer in power. Now he's resigned to sitting on a bench, waving his finger and spouting defiant yet now useless rhetoric. Sitting there unashamed and unapologetic while his victims testify of his cruelty. Soon, hopefully, he will be forced to face the gallows and the death he sent so many to. Will it make up for the horror of his decades in power? No. But it will be justice.
That may not be what brought America to Iraq, but that's what America brought to Iraq.

Conspiracy Charges Dropped

WASHINGTON — A judge dismissed the conspiracy charges Monday against Rep. Tom DeLay but refused to throw out the money-laundering charges, dashing his hopes for now of reclaiming his post as House majority leader.

Well, obviously, this isn't perfect, but it's very good.

One other point is that just because the money laundering charges were not dropped does not automatically equal a guilty conviction, as the nightly news anchors will most likely imply.
If it even makes it to the newscast.

Update: So, can you guess what the AP headline is?...
"DeLay's Money Laundering Charges Upheld". Why am I not surprised by this?

Face Transplant Patient Doing Well
PARIS — One of the French doctors who performed the world's first partial face-transplant said Sunday the 38-year-old patient is "perfect," in good psychological condition and doing well medically.
Jean Michael Dubernard, who had previously conducted the world's first hand and forearm transplants, said the woman, operated on a week ago, would remain hospitalized in the southeastern city of Lyon for four to six weeks.
She received a section of a nose, lips and chin in the transplant surgery after being mauled by her dog.

Wow. Guess I know what line of work is not for me...
You know, it's great that this woman is doing well, and her life will probably be better for it. But... no more details, please!

PITTSBURGH Nov 30, 2005 — Designers of a Flight 93 memorial have made a bowl-shaped piece of land its centerpiece, replacing a crescent-shape design that some critics had said was a symbol honoring terrorists, officials announced Wednesday.
The new design for the memorial, to be built on the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, crash near Shanksville, features most of the details of the original, which was unveiled in September after a worldwide design competition.
But a round, bowl-shaped area would replace a "Crescent of Embrace," a crescent-shaped cluster of maple trees.

Wow. That was quick. Now what took them so long in New York?

Jury Recomends Death

Good riddance.
"SARASOTA, Fla. — Jurors recommended the death penalty Thursday for a mechanic convicted of abducting and killing an 11-year-old girl in an attack that was taped by a surveillance camera and broadcast worldwide."

Not to sound bloodthirsty, but THAT is why I am for the death penalty. Someone who would do that to an 11 year old deserves to die.

Yes, but how dare you say we don't support the troops?
