Bush Backs Constitutional Amendment on Marriage

WASHINGTON — Marriage between a man and woman is the "most enduring and important human institution" and one that should be protected, President Bush said Monday in a speech offering his support to a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage nationwide.

Hmm.
Well, it goes without saying that I'm against gay marriage.
But still, I'm a little worried whenever someone sets a precedent of Federal powers controlling the States. Yes, activist judges are a huge problem and need to be stopped.
Marriage should not be allowed to be redefined.
But just think:
do we really want the Democrats coming in power(and I think we all know it's a strong possibility either in the midterms or in '08) and passing an amendment in favor of abortion?
I'm not violently opposed to Bush on this - but I'm more than a little concerned.
